Tutor Perini Building Corp. has won a key contract in an Oklahoma casino project. Parent company Tutor Perini announced Thursday that the Choctaw Nation has selected the firm for a $140 million renovation and expansion project involving the Choctaw Casino & Resort in Pocola, Oklahoma.

The project scope includes interior and exterior renovations of the existing hotel and casino, upgrades to all dining and gaming areas, and construction of a new seven-story, 130-room hotel tower. According to the press release, the new tower will feature a spa, fitness center, and pool complex.

TPBC has been involved in the pre-construction phase of the project since 2025, with construction expected to begin in the third quarter, according to the press release.

The Los Angeles-based contractor's subsidiary has prior experience with casino projects. Last summer, it was awarded a $220 million contract for the second phase expansion of Eagle Mountain Casino, located near Modesto, California.

Developers have recently accelerated the pace of hotel project planning, although data center construction continues to dominate the overall building industry landscape. Meanwhile, recent casino projects reaching significant milestones include: Bally's Chicago development, a $1.7 billion project with 500 rooms, which topped out in May; and the $850 million Puerto Rico hotel and casino project announced by Hard Rock International in February.

However, not all of Tutor Perini's hotel projects have gone smoothly. The company faces a long-running lawsuit over the construction of the W Philadelphia and Element hotels, and recently suffered a $42.4 million judgment in that case.
