Los Angeles-based heavy civil contractor Tutor Perini announced that its subsidiary Fisk Electric has won a $48 million contract to provide electrical engineering services for a 273,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing and data center infrastructure facility in Houston. The Los Angeles-based heavy civil contractor announced that its subsidiaryFisk Electric has secured a $48 million contractto provide electrical engineering services for a manufacturing plant producing data center components.

According to a press release issued Monday, the plant is located in Houston, spans 273,000 square feet, and produces high-tech electronic products and data center infrastructure products, including AI-related hardware. Tutor Perini did not disclose the owner of the plant.
The press release noted that such precision manufacturing places high demands on electrical systems, requiring reliable, scalable, and resilient power infrastructure.
Fisk's scope of work will cover a 115,000-square-foot area within the plant to support advanced production and AI hardware assembly. Tutor Perini stated that the work will focus on ensuring power density, system redundancy, and future scalability.
Schedule and Execution Strategy
The project has a tight schedule. Due to what Tutor Perini calls an "aggressive schedule" and technical complexity, the team is concurrently advancing overlapping phases of design, procurement, and construction to ensure schedule certainty.
The announcement comes just one month after the major project contractor declared its entry into the booming data center construction sector. Tutor Perini typically buildsmulti-billion-dollar tunnel projects、transportation projectsandlarge public buildings。
Like other construction executives whoemphasized opportunities in that sectorduring earnings calls, Tutor Perini CEO Gary Smalley said on the company's first-quarter earnings call that he wants to increase its involvement in the data center business.
"We're actually doing some data center work in our specialty areas, and we're currently exploring ways to expand that business," Smalley said on May 6.
According to the press release, the contract value for the Houston plant will be included in Tutor Perini's second-quarter backlog. The company said it aims to complete the project by the end of 2026.
